With the upcoming Mi Pad 5, Xiaomi hopes to overtake Samsung as the market leader in tablets.

On August 10, Xiaomi, the world's largest smartphone manufacturer, will unveil a new Android tablet alongside the flagship Mi Mix 4. The tablet will be dubbed the Mi Pad 5 and will have stylus capability, according to a teaser issued by the business on its Weibo page.

Since the Mi Pad 4, which was announced in mid-2018, the business hasn't released a new Android tablet. The Mi Pad 5, unlike the Mi Pad 4, is not intended to be a low-cost tablet. Instead, high-end features are expected, including a Snapdragon 800 series CPU.

It's also unclear whether Xiaomi intends to debut many tablets at the event. Xiaomi was rumoured to be working on a trio of high-end tablets back in May, according to a leak. All three variants are expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 800-series processor, with the Snapdragon 870 likely being the most expensive.

The Mi Pad 5 will sport a 10.9-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a quad-camera arrangement with a 48MP main sensor, and a fingerprint sensor on the side. According to the device's speculated specifications, it will likely compete with Samsung's Galaxy Tab S7 FE rather than the flagship Tab S7, which is now one of the best Android tablets.

The Mi Mix 4 will, however, be the headliner of the upcoming event. The phone could have a "invisible" under-screen selfie camera, as revealed by an official teaser earlier this week. Xiaomi's upcoming Android flagship is expected to include a Snapdragon 888 processor, a 50MP main camera, 120W wired fast charging, and 80W wireless charging, among other features.
